The building that “The Liff” calls home was once a sound stage and an indoor tennis court. More recently, it has been reimagined as the spectacular home of the Nashville Opera. Designed by renowned architect Earl Swensson, The Liff has become an icon for the arts in the city.
It’s also an exclusive venue to host a stunningly elegant event, like a wedding! You can get married in the same facility where the opera sews intricate costumes, constructs majestic sets, and performs some of the region’s finest operas. And there’s nothing basic about that whatsoever.
Details of the Grounds
When preparing for your wedding day, you’ll feel like a diva (the grand, operatic kind) having your hair and makeup done in The Liff’s dressing rooms. It’s the perfect place for a little pre-wedding pampering with a mirrored counter and a private bath. If you need additional space, three additional dressing rooms are ready for you, too.
Your partner and their party can enjoy getting ready in The Frist Boardroom. With a full audio-visual system, sleek wood features, and a sparkling chandelier, it’s an intimate space with plenty of room for everyone to prepare.
While you can book The Liff solely for your reception, they also offer the option to host your ceremony at the venue. If you need to flip your space between your ceremony and reception, their staff will handle the transformation while your guests enjoy a lively cocktail hour in the gorgeous Bovender Lobby.
Host your reception in one of two places: The Opera Studio is a bright, open space with stage lighting overhead, warm wooden floors, and walls of mirrors (that you can also choose to have curtained off for your event.) Located right off the Ragsdale Grand Lobby, it’s a neutral space that provides plenty of opportunity to bring in your unique wedding vision, whatever that may be. The Opera Studio can accommodate up to 250 guests.
The Ragsdale Grand Lobby is perfect for a more intimate wedding of between 70 and 150 guests. Atop the dramatic spiral staircase, the lobby has bright, natural light flooding in from a wall of soaring windows overlooking the neighboring trees. You’ll also have access to the Bettye Allen Balcony, perfect for a little evening fresh air.

The Liff’s spectacular architectural features will play a large role in your wedding photos at this venue. From the beautiful balcony in front of the dramatic front of the building to the marvelous spiral staircase, there is so much unique beauty to feature at The Liff.

When you host a wedding at The Liff, you’ll have access to the Ragsdale Lobby, the Opera Studio, and the dressing suite and catering kitchen. They include the additional Frist Boardroom space if you have your ceremony at The Liff.
When hosting any event, you must choose from their list of exclusive caterers, valet parking vendors, and rental vendors. Their fabulous events team will help you ensure every detail is considered so you can host the wedding of your dreams.
